About this Board

General Duties

  • Attend two 3-hour virtual board meetings, two 30-minute virtual board meetings, one 1-day in-person board meeting, and one 2-day in-person strategy retreat annually.
  • Serve on at least one of the three standing committees (Finance & Audit, Governance, Program Development).
  • Attend 4-9 virtual committee meetings annually (Finance & Audit meets twice per quarter, plus 1 special audit review meeting).
  • Give an unrestricted annual personal gift in line with your personal means.
  • Review quarterly financial statements.

Board Terms

Board members can serve three 3-year terms (total of 9 years).

Time Commitment & Meeting Schedule

The time commitment is dependent upon which committee a board member serves (the Finance & Audit Committee meets twice per quarter, plus one additional special audit meeting). The approximate time commitment expected of board members is broken down by quarter below:

Quarter 1 = 5.75 - 7.25 hours

  • One Committee Meeting – 90 minutes
  • Committee Meeting Prep – 30 minutes
  • One virtual Board Meeting (mid Feb) – 3 hours
  • Board Meeting Prep – 45 minutes
  • Extra Finance & Audit Committee Meeting – 60 minutes
  • Extra Finance & Audit Committee Meeting Prep – 30 minutes

Quarter 2 = 7.75 - 9.75 hours

  • One Committee Meeting – 90 minutes
  • Committee Meeting Prep – 30 minutes
  • One 1-day in-person Board Meeting (mid May) – 5 hours + RT travel
  • Board Meeting Prep – 45 minutes
  • Extra Finance & Audit Committee Meeting – 60 minutes
  • Extra Finance & Audit Committee Meeting Prep – 30 minutes
  • Special Finance & Audit Committee Meeting (audit) – 30 minutes

Quarter 3 = 5.75 - 7.25 hours

  • One Committee Meeting – 90 minutes
  • Committee Meeting Prep – 30 minutes
  • One virtual Board Meeting – 3 hours
  • Board Meeting Prep – 45 minutes
  • Extra Finance & Audit Committee Meeting – 60 minutes
  • Extra Finance & Audit Committee Meeting Prep – 30 minutes

Quarter 4 = 19.25 - 20.75 hours

  • Two Committee Meetings – 90 minutes
  • Committee Meeting Prep – 30 minutes
  • One 2-day in-person Strategy Retreat & Meeting (late Oct) – 16 hours + RT travel & social time
  • One Virtual Board Meeting (budget) – 30 minutes
  • Board Meeting Prep – 45 minutes
  • Extra Finance & Audit Committee Meeting – 60 minutes
  • Extra Finance & Audit Committee Meeting Prep – 30 minutes
